my laptop is 15 by 9. i was looking at some pics on google of the f-803 with a laptop in it, and thats the one i like. will it work and what others will work. is there a padded laptop insert in any of them?

The F803 won't fit your laptop; the F802 might stretch to that, though. It's got lightly-padded ends and bottom; you could add pads along the side (cut some from ensolite camping pads maybe). I don't think there are any Domke inserts that would fit the F802 and hold a laptop though. You might also look at the new F-812.
