Some might look at this as simply an expensive monopod, but as a micro-documentary filmmaker, I can tell you that gathering b-role is a extremely important part of filmmaking and a very often, time is of the essence. Having a tool that allows me to adjust my shot in a matter of seconds rather than having to unlock legs manually, is a game changer. In many situations, I would simply miss the shot because it would take me too long to adjust my monopod manually, but with the gas lift on the Steadicam Air, I basically don't have to worry about it.
I neither shoot with this Monopod, yet, but it's came today and I must to say: yes, it's robust, decent, by sizing and looks really-really qualitative. But unfortunately, not that lightweight as Peter said and I thought, when I was thinking about carbon fiber. I feel the price tag way too high and top of that I had to pay extra taxes to the EU. First I just wanted to have a Monopod and saw a sad, 300 dollars price for it. After came out, maybe I should buy the one which takes more weight. Than we are by 400. Plus the shipping, so 443 EUR for you, than come the tax on the top, which been over 100 EUR and on the end I have a stick for 543 EUR, which doesn't came smooth at all. After I put sunflower oil around it, with some shame, that can be collect from now dust and sand, everything from the air: finally, works smooth. Well, as I said, have no done 1 record yet, today, but after over half-thousand EUR I wish to see something work fine, no add of pure oil. And the price No, I'm not a completely satisfied customer, at all!
Love it! Best monopod I have ever had.
I have been using my Steadicam Air on just about every shoot and it has saved me a lot of time with my run and gun film shoots. Everywhere I bring it people ask me where I got it and it doesn’t disappoint! It’s lightweight and you have a lot of options for adding a fluid head if desired.
Thanks for your review, we are glad you are enjoying your Steadicam Air monopod.
